Lesson from Great Lives
Values Associated with Great Lives
Introduction Observing the world and from reading the stories of many great men and women that lived and are still living on this planet , I noticed that many of the highly successful people are in a way or another living by the same set of ' golden rules .
'Examples from the Great Lives :
Napoleon The lesson from his life is clear : The important thing about success is knowing when to stop. Had Napoleon stopped after his victory over the Russians and Austrians at Austerlitz , he had enjoyed a long and honourable retirement and gone down in history as a man of moderation whose brilliance never failed his judgement ?
Washington He was the opposite of Napoleon . After liberating the 13 colonies , Washington retired to his farm in Virginia . His moral was- A successful general should not seek political power ; he should wait to be called by the universal voice of the people .
Churchill Though he experienced tremendous triumphs and terrific downfalls , Churchill's motto was ' Never despair . ' He is the ideal role model for anyone whose business collapses or meets a deadly reversal .
Socrates The moral from his life was- Never think you know all the answers . When he was asked who the wisest man in Athens was , replied : ' Socrates ' . He himself commented , " Yes , and I suspect I know why I am ignorant . "
Darwin He was brilliant at observing tiny creatures . Nothing is so small as to be insignificant . The smaller something is , the more carefully you should note what it's doing , and why , and draw conclusions from those findings .
Conclusion No matter how far you go in life , always remember to express your gratitude and appreciation for what you have and where you are , for all the amazing people that are present in your life , for all the lives you transformed and empowered just by doing the things you deeply believed in , and for staying true to yourself.NL
