A Railway Accident

Introduction-Now-a-days accidents have become part and parcel in our daily routine life. Not a single day passes without them. Whether they are road-accidents or they are train accidents or air-crashes, they definitely occur every day in various parts of the world.

 When and Where? An unforgettable accident took place on 26th January, 1990 near Agra Cantonment station. When people were sleeping comfortably in the sleeping coaches at a small hour of that fateful day, a loud noise woke up many.

 Description-It so happened that the Rajdhani Express was coming at full speed. It was a through train and was thus not to stop at this station. The station master gave the wrong signal and the Rajdhani Express rammed into the passenger train which was approaching the station from the opposite direction. The two mighty engines struck each other like two fearful demons. Both of them were smashed and the drivers and cleaners of both of them were killed on the spot. Two bogies of the Rajdhani Express were destroyed, while four front bogies of the passenger train also met the same fate. It was early in the morning. As we heard the cries of passengers, we rushed to the spot. It was a horrible sight. About two hundred passengers had been killed. Thousands of the passengers were injured. 

Conclusion However, the administration did appreciable work. It efficiently handled the situation. The railways also did good work. It announced to give ten lakh to the relatives of every deceased. It also arranged a special train for the stranded passengers.
